Pe Lang
Performance: Pe Lang

Pe Lang is a Swiss-born artist known for creating minimal kinetic artworks that control and put physical forces in action with a captivating elegance. His sculptures and installations combine hand made mechanized systems with a stringent constructive optimization.

He began creating experimental mechanical sound objects in 1994, presenting them in the form of live performances/installations at various European and North American art spaces and festivals, including the Transmediale in Berlin, Sonic Acts Amsterdam or the Elektra Festival in Montreal.

In 2007, he received a one year artist-in-lab research residency fellowship at the Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology CSEM. Lang was twice honored with the prestigious Swiss Art Award (2009 and 2010).

His works can be found in private, museum and foundation collections such as the EMMA - Espoo Museum of Modern Art, Borusan Contemporary in Istanbul, Museum of Science, Art and Human Perception in San Francisco. Exhibitions of Lang‘s work include the Centro de Arte Santa Museum Mónica in Barcelona, Kunsthalle Bern, Växjö Art Hall in Sweden, etc.

One of the pieces he will perform at Störung Festival 9 is ‘Untitled II‘, a collaboration with Marianthi Papalexandri-Alexandri, a composer, sound artist and performer based in Berlin. Her work focuses on the reexamination and reinvention of the musical instrument as a sound generator as well as the type of sound production and behaviour of the performer. Her work involves a continuous interaction between the visual to the musical.
